Currently, we can find a wide range of industrial batteries. Each type of these batteries is designed with specific characteristics that make them ideal for different uses.
On the one hand, we can find the so-called EPZ batteries. These are 2 Volt batteries and are manufactured with a tubular positive lead plate. Its container is made of black polypropylene, and has a high electrolyte density of 1.28 gr/l.
As for their uses, EPZ industrial batteries are recommended for traction of heavy vehicles, forklifts and pallet trucks. These batteries allow to move very heavy machines during long working days. Their useful life is 1500 to 4500 cycles.
In this type of element it is necessary to be more attentive to the maintenance of the water, due to the fact that the water reserve chamber that is in the superior part of the battery is smaller, for that reason it is advisable to look at the levels weekly.
We can find different models:
- EpzS= DIN model with standard length 198mm
- EpzB= Model BS with standard length of 158 mm
- EpzV= DIN or BS model but with GEL technology, gelled electrolyte requiring no maintenance.

On the other hand, we can find OPZS models for renewable energy systems. As in the previous case, these industrial batteries have a power of 2V and are manufactured with tubular positive lead plate. However, in this case, the packaging can be transparent or translucent polypropylene model.
The electrolyte density of these models is 1.24g/l and they are manufactured with low antimony content. They are the most used for large solar and renewable energy installations and 3000 cycles at 50%.
OPZS industrial battery models
One of the features of OPZS batteries is that it is a transparent model. Thanks to this feature you can constantly check the inside of the battery to check the water reserve at the top. In addition, it allows a larger water reserve than in other models. This allows for less maintenance.
OPZV industrial batteries have all the advantages of OPZS. But it also includes a gel electrolyte among its components. This makes it a totally sealed battery, with an opaque container that requires little maintenance.
Thanks to this it can be placed horizontally or vertically. This makes this type of batteries ideal for places with difficult accessibility for maintenance such as boats or trains.
Finally, TOPZS industrial batteries are characterized by being manufactured in a translucent package that is more economical than OPZS batteries. The service life of TOPZS is somewhat shorter than OPZS or OPZV but their price is more affordable.
Another of its great features, shared with the previous models, is that TOPZS batteries allow deep discharges with a useful life that, although shorter than the previous ones, is more than acceptable. This type of battery is ideal for use in off-grid solar installations that require both daily and occasional use.
